Bentley Bentayga X-Concept breaks cover with V8
Bentley has revealed the Bentayga X Concept, a new off-road-focused version of the Bentayga Speed. The concept hints at a future production SUV that could offer stronger performance away from paved roads. According to the company, the model has been created to gather feedback from customers and the public about a Bentayga with greater off-road capability.
- Powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine pushing 650 PS
- Features air suspension and a 48-volt active anti-roll control system
The concept continues to use the Bentayga Speed's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which produces 650 PS. Power is delivered to all four wheels through a permanent all-wheel-drive system paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also retains features such as air suspension and a 48-volt active anti-roll control system.
Most of the changes focus on improving ground clearance and stability. The ride height has been increased by 55mm, taking the ground clearance to roughly 310mm. Bentley has widened the track by 120mm for better balance on uneven surfaces, while the wheel arches have been extended by 40mm to support the broader stance. The SUV rides on forged 22-inch single-piece Brixton wheels fitted with high-profile all-terrain tyres, allowing it to wade through water deeper than 550mm.
Although the overall shape of the Bentayga remains unchanged, several functional design updates stand out. The lower front bumper, wheel arches, side skirts and rear splitter are finished in black for a tougher look. The front bumper also features twin towing points, and a roof rack with four auxiliary spotlights has been added to improve visibility in low-light conditions.
At the rear, the Bentayga X Concept is equipped with a titanium sports exhaust developed by Akrapovi?. The system is built to handle demanding conditions while maintaining the performance expected from the Bentayga Speed.
