Ather EL platform revealed

EL PlatformÂ
Ather has showcased the EL01 prototype at the Ather Community Day 2026 in Bengaluru that uses the EL platform. The company claims the platform to be the most dynamic one ever created. It uses a unibody steel frame that can house a battery pack as low as 2 kWh to 5 kWh and anything in between. But the dynamic nature of the platform does not end there. The suspension setup comprises of a telescopic unit up front and an off-set monoshock at the rear that can equip a 14-inch wheel up front and a 12-inch unit at the rear, and there can be multiple permutation and combination to cater to a particular riding style. The platform can easily accommodate a 14-inch setup at the front and rear, a 12-inch setup at both ends and a 14-inch front and a 12-inch at the rear.
The subframe can be elongated or chopped to alter the utility and riding style of the desired scooter. A chopped subframe is likely to be a nimble handler, more suited for a demographic that is looking for a spirited riding style and engaging experience. And an elongated subframe can deliver a maxi scooter that will offer more bootspace and highway stability. The EL01 looked like a proper commuter scooter with a single piece seat and a small backrest for the pillion rider. It was using a disc brake on the 14-inch front wheel with a disc brake setup up front and a drum set up at the rear. Suspension duty at the rear was done by an off set monoshock and it was using a swingarm mounted motor.
EL01 PrototypeÂ
Manufacturing of the products based on the EL platform will be done in the new and upcoming manufacturing facility of Ather at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Aurangabad. A couple of claims by Ather on the EL platform includes 15 per cent faster battery assembly, a service interval of 10,000 km, 2x faster periodic services. The company has not disclosed the first product that will be based on the revealed platform, but it will coexist the existing products in the portfolio and we can expect a debut of the same by the festive season next year.
New Features
The ACDC or Ather Charge Drive Controller has now removed the bulky and long charging unit because the upcoming scooters will have an onboard charger with the motor controller. This has resulted in creating more room in the boot to carry the luggage and other essentials, as the charging cable is now less bulky and more easy to carry. The new Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) was also introduced with the EL platform. It does not replace ABS, instead it will work in tandem with the existing technology.
