Aprilia launch Tuono 660, RS 660 and Tuareg 660 in India
Aprilia has gone all out and launched a trio of 660cc motorcycles in India. While the Aprilia RS 660 and the Aprilia Tuono 660 have already graced the Indian soil before, the brand has re-launched the bikes as well as added the Aprilia Tuareg 660 to its portfolio.
The Tuareg 660 is available in three colours: Atreides Black, Canyon Sand and Evocative Dakar Podium with the former 2 priced at Rs 18.85 lakh while the latter is priced at Rs 19.16 lakh. The Tuono 660 is available in Torque Red and Rush Grey with a price tag of Rs 17.74 lakh and the RS 660 is priced at Rs 17.74 lakh and can be had in Racing Black, Acid Gold or Tribute.
The Tuareg 660 is powered by the same liquid-cooled, 659cc, 270-crank parallel-twin as the RS and Tuono 660, but in this form, it produces 81PS at 9,250 rpm and 70Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The Aprilia Tuareg 660 features a perimeter frame and a bolt-on subframe. It has a completely adjustable Kayaba inverted fork and a fully adjustable Kayaba monoshock, both with 240mm of wheel travel. Braking duties are handled by 300mm twin discs in the front and a 240mm disc in the rear, all with Brembo callipers and braided brake lines.
The Tuareg 660 has 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels with tubeless tyres. The bikes 18-litre tank completely filled, the Tuareg hits the scales at 204kg and has a seat height of 860mm.
In terms of technology, the Tuareg 660 offers four riding modes, two of which are customizable. There's also multi-level traction control, switchable ABS, cruise control, and engine brake control, among other features. The 5-inch TFT display allows you to access the settings for various rider aids.
The same powertrain powers the Tuono 660 and RS 660 as well but in different states of tune. The Aprilia RS 660 produces a peak output of 100PS and 67Nm while the Tuono 660 delivers 95.1PS and 67Nm.
The RS 660 is equipped with a 6-speed transmission, a slip-and-assist clutch, and a bi-directional quick-shifter as standard. However, the Tuono 660 only has a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.
The RS 660 and Tuono 660 both feature aluminium perimeter chassis and have the same framework. Both bikes include a 41mm Kayaba inverted fork and a monoshock with preload and rebound adjustment. They have 320mm twin discs up front and a 220mm disc in the back, both with Brembo brake callipers. In addition, all bikes include multi-level cornering ABS as standard.
The Aprilia Tuareg 660 being an adventure bike, will take on the likes of the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, Honda XL750 Transalp and the BMW F850 GS in the Indian market.
