Powertrain
Toyota will offer two battery pack options: 77.0 kWh and 95.8 kWh. The larger 95.8kWh battery is available on all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants and claims to deliver a manufacturer-estimated range of up to 515 km.
Front-wheel-drive versions produce 224 PS and 268 Nm of torque. AWD variants generate up to 343 PS and 438 Nm, depending on the configuration.
The SUV comes with a North American Charging System (NACS) port, allowing access to a wide DC fast-charging network across the US. It also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, enabling the SUV to power external devices when needed. AWD versions additionally feature systems such as Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control.
Interior
Inside, the Highlander comes with a redesigned dashboard and a more technology-focused layout. A 14-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital driver display are offered as standard. The SUV also includes Toyota's latest multimedia system and the new Safety Sense 4.0 suite.
Safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane assist, automatic emergency braking and pre-collision warning.
The Highlander can seat up to seven passengers, depending on the configuration. Heated front seats are standard, while higher trims add ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats. The cabin uses soft-touch materials on the dashboard and doors, and offers customisable ambient lighting. With the third row folded flat, cargo space exceeds 1,274 litres. A fixed glass panoramic roof will also be available.
Exterior
The new Highlander gets a cleaner and more aerodynamic design compared to the outgoing version. It features broad fenders, flush door handles and a full-width LED daytime running light signature at the front. The SUV rides on 19-inch wheels as standard.
While the overall shape remains upright to suit its three-row layout, Toyota says the smoother surfaces and reduced visual clutter help
