The major tweaks have been done to the ergonomics and the design elements of the bike. The new handlebar is 30 mm wider than the outgoing model. The footpegs have been repositioned, the rider seat is now 15 mm taller and for pillion comfort, the rear seat is now 20 mm wider and has 10 mm additional padding.

In terms of design elements, the new Z650 S has borrowed the three-lamp LED headlamp unit from the elder sibling – Z900, the bodywork has been redesigned for a new look, and the front section has a little butch with the extended tank shrouds.

In terms of the powertrain, nothing has changed, the new Z650 S still uses the same 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The company has not disclosed any changes in the tuning of the engine which may change the peak power and torque output. The outgoing Z650 pushes a good 68 PS and 64 Nm of peak torque.

The cycle parts include a conventional telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear performing suspension duties. And braking duties are handled by 300 mm twin rotors up front and a 220 mm disc at the rear.  The rider aids include a 4.3-inch TFT dash with smartphone tethering. This gives access to multiple functions like call alerts, text alerts, and ride data to name a few.

The Kawasaki Z650 S will be offered in three new colours - Ebony/Metallic Carbon Grey, Candy Lime Green/Metallic Carbon Grey, and Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Grey/Metallic Flat Spark Black.
and whether the bike will reach the Indian shore is yet to be seen. In the global lineup
