2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan makes global debut as first sedan on the E-GMP platform
Hyundai has globally unveiled the upcoming 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6, a future competitor to the Tesla Model S. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is essentially a scaled-back version of the Prophecy concept car with distinctive aesthetics that nevertheless adheres to most of the brilliant design principles.
The new Ioniq 6 will ride on the same E-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 and will be the first-ever sedan ins the Ioniq line-up. The zero-emission car combines contemporary features like the Parametric Pixel lighting with a classic design aesthetic.
At the front, the car has a low-set nose with noticeable bulges above the wheel arches and slender headlights with parametric pixel LED daytime running lighting. The vehicle has bulging wheel arches, camera-based wing mirrors and a sharply sloped rear pillar that extends into the trunk.
Additionally, the set of elaborate wheels lends a more pronounced character. The full-width LED tail lights with a dot pattern at the rear, which are positioned beneath the long boot lid, give the vehicle a futuristic look. The body is designed for aerodynamics and has a 0.21 drag coefficient.
The range capabilities might be a little improved, but the battery and other internals are anticipated to be identical to the Ioniq 5. While a twin-motor AWD configuration should be able to produce 324 PS and 605 Nm, it might employ a single e-motor arrangement to deliver 228 PS and 350 Nm. Additionally, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be able to use an 800V fast-charging system.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 appears to be quite similar to the Ioniq 5 inside. It includes a comparable dashboard and steering wheel as well as a panel with 12-inch screens for the infotainment system and the gauges.
However, it has been improved with fresh features including greater ambient lighting that may be divided into two distinct hues. It has a floating centre console with what appear to be window-related switches and buttons. Additionally, the four steering wheel pixels that light up appear to be able to converse with the driver.
