2017 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo edition launched in India at Rs 31.01 lakh

Toyota has launched a more rugged TRD Sportivo edition of its popular Toyota Fortuner SUV in India at a price of Rs 31.01 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 4x2 AT diesel variant. The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo SUV costs Rs 3.64 lakh over the price of the standard two-wheel drive automatic variant and only in the pearl white colour. Developed by Toyota Racing Development (TRD), the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo essentially replaces the chrome trim on the exterior of the standard Toyota Fortuner with blacked-out details, gets new-design alloy wheels, and a black interior to offer a more sporty, rugged look. The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo is already available in the international markets including Indonesia and Thailand. The changes to the Toyota Fortuner in the TRD Sportivo trim are only cosmetic and the Fortuner TRD Sportivo will only be available with the 2.8-litre diesel engine from the standard Toyota Fortuner which we drove to Kaza earlier this year. The Toyota Fortuner competes with the Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Tucson and Isuzu MU-X in the Indian market. The previous generation of the Toyota Fortuner also had a TRD Sportivo edition on offer.

On the exterior, the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo adds a sporty body kit to the Fortuner's standard body. This kit includes front and rear bumper extensions, as well as silver finish front and rear underbody protection. The TRD Sportivo edition also gets silver finish running boards. The chrome nose on the standard Fortuner makes way for a gloss black grille and matte black surrounds for the fog lamps as also the ORVM housings. 'TRD' lettering is offered on the grille and near the front door sills as well as the tailgate. The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo also gets a new dual-tone design for its multi-spoke alloy wheels. The interior too gets a black treatment with new floor mats that sport the 'TRD' lettering. The 2.8-litre diesel engine on the Toyota Fortuner produces 170PS and 420Nm on the six-speed manual variant and 450Nm on the six-speed automatic variant.
