Bridgestone all set to expand it's operation in India

Bridgestone, the world's number one tyre and rubber manufacturer has announced that it will start manufacturing truck and bus radial (TBR) tyres in India in order to meet the growing demand in the country. With the expansion of road infrastructure and expressways, the demand for TBR is also on the rise. The Japanese tyre maker said that it will expand its operation at the Indore plant to produce the TBR products. The plant currently manufactures passenger car and light truck tyres. The total investment is expected to be around $ 36.7 million, with production to start during the first half of 2011. The plant is in the midst to boost production of auto and light truck tire capacity to 15,000 tyres per day and with TBR hitting the production lines soon, the comapny expects to touch a target of 400 units per day by 2012. H. Tanigawa, MD, Bridgestone India Pvt Ltd said " India is growing rapidly and its potential seem to be unlimited. Further the TBR production will also generate an additional employment for approximately 200 people. "

Gearing up to full capacity of 400 units a day by the second half of 2012


Tokyo/Mumbai, February 03, 2010 — Bridgestone Corporation the world’s no.1 Tyre & Rubber manufacturer, today announced that it will begin truck and bus radial

tyre (TBR) production in India to encounter flourishing demand in the country. The total investment will be approximately $36.7 million, with production scheduled to begin in the first half of 2011. Production capacity is expected to reach approximately 400 units per day by the second half of 2012.

In India , TBR demand is expected to continue to grow due to the expansion of the expressways and other road infrastructure. This expansion of the road network is the result of economic growth in the nation as well as the introduction of higher-performance trucks. The Bridgestone Group will expand its operations at the Indore Plant, which currently manufactures passenger car and light truck tires, in order to produce the new TBR products.

On the occasion Mr. H.Tanigawa, Managing Director, Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd. said, “ India is growing rapidly, and its potential seems to be unlimited. Therefore our decision to produce TBR is in response to ever increasing demand in Indian market. We are now going to put more focus on Indian market than ever, and are looking for newer possibilities to grow in terms of volumes & numbers”.

“Further the TBR production will also generate an additional employment for approximately 200 people”, added Mr. Tanigawa

The 12-year-old Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh already is in the midst of a $56.3 million project to boost auto and light truck tire capacity 40 percent to 15,000 tires a day by mid-2010.
