KTM’s ambitious RC8 project has never stayed under wraps but when the new bike finally hits the road, it will look no less exciting. Sharp, edgy and aggressive, this orange wonder sure seemed to be a show stealer when launched at the Milan Bike Show last month.
The bike that promises to fulfil KTM’s World Superbike racing dreams someday is armed with an 1145cc, liquid-cooled, 75-degree twin motor, producing 156PS of power and 120Nm of torque. The company officials currently refrain from any possibilities of entering the prestigious WSBK arena and limiting themselves to European Championships ‘at the moment’, the probability of finding the RC8 in the WSBK grid still look strong.
Tucking the powerplant within is the chrome alloy trellis frame while the ordinary looking swingarm is made of aluminium. The weight has been maintained at an astonishing 188kg to keep it easy on the handling and performance front. The styling is no doubt space age, with sharp surfaces, a bold vertically stacked headlamp cluster, razor replica rear end and the exhaust neatly tucked inside the bellypan of the fairing.
I am aware that indian super biker dilip rogger will be testing this bike in italian circuits in may
2009. He has a golden chance to break into the international scene if he does well.
