Okay it’s been in the market for quite some time, but I couldn’t be happier! Yahoo, I am in charge of the Apache now and she still thrills me as she did during the 24-hour run we did in December last year.
The sedate and slow riding style that I had, has gone for a toss, and every time I press that electric start button, I feel “it’s now or never.” Open the throttle and the Apache takes off fast (my weight notwithstanding). The 150cc engine does feel a tad rough and I sense that we’re doing 90 and there’s a signal ahead. Time to test the brakes dude! Hit the discs and the calipers bite like a shark! Good for the jaywalker ahead at least.
With art director Nirmal riding pillion, I happened to lean down (a bit). Poor chap was scared, but was surprised with how a ramrod straight rider was leaning around every corner. That’s what this mountain goat does, inspires confidence by the bucketload.
I wish the Apache too had digital speedometer and attractive consoles. Well the gears seem to have a ‘control unit’ of their own. Sometimes with the neutral light glowing strong the bike still remains in the gear and just when you indulge in the red light drag, the false neutral comes your way!
