Toyota has always been a single pillar company. It keeps beating the quality drum over and over again. Because of that, it charages a huge premium on all its products. Recently almost all the models of Toyota are being recalled for Gas pedal problems. The gas Pedal gets stuck to the floor and causes major accidents. After serious nudge from the US transport secretary Toyota agreed to fix the problem. They are about to be fined huge sums soon because of dragging their feet on the issue, almost a year. Toyota cars are being recalled in US, Europe and Middle East. In India you can be dead sure that nothing will happen. Since yesterday its reported Prius has serious problem with brakes. THE BREAKS ARE POOR EVEN IN FORTUNER (COST CUTTING DRUM BREAKS IN A BEHEMOTH LIKE THAT) and CAMRY.

Its time we woke to Toyota fleecing us in the name of quality. India's Tag line for Sales for Toyota is "Quality Revolution". Now since we know what it means, We would expect them to get off their high horses and come to both realistic pricings and better products that Innova and Qualis.

All major Auto Magazines are reporting poor brakes for the Fortuner. Follow the story on the net and lets be informed consumers.

The gas pedal problem is basically a US propaganda, when Toyota chief was testifying in the Capitol Hill before the senate, none of the senate member was able to quantify the no. of incidents due to sticky gas pedal. In US many die to accidents, US is trying to milk Toyota profits as none of US car makers are able to match Toyota in terms of reliability and quality. Many senate members also drive Toyota cars themselves and no one has faced any problem.

Most of the accidents are legally fought in US courts, so far not a single Toyota Car accident has been proved it's b'cos of sticky gas pedal or whatever. Toyota will pay the fine if proved but it's not easy to fine Toyota for every accident and relate it to sticky gas pedal.

One US senate member of Indiana region has openly said that three suppliers' stocks were raided and supplies confiscicated by FBI. It is learnt that one of the DENSO plant in Indiana region has produced gas pedals with varying quality and reliability. Only a fair investigation will reveal the truth! I guess Toyota blindly trusted suppliers in US and these issues....and there is strong indication that some vested interest is behind these recall.

Toyota will stand tall after a while b'cos I'm sure the bogey raised by vested interest will hold no water over time. B'cos quality n reliability is built over decades, if vested interest feel that it can be brought down overnight they will be wrong for sure....TOYOTA is still number 1 ...period !!

After recall, apologies, etc etc Prius is still top selling model in Japan(Feb2010). We must appreciate Toyota for admitting mistake and recalling all cars produced to avoid potential danger to the owners, in fact less than 50 complaints were recieved, less than a dozen quite seious, and we have Toyota recalling million of cars !!
