Honda has announced that they will be entering the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Their car of choice is the new 2012 European Civic, albeit not the road-going version but a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged version which has been developed by J.A.S Motorsport and Mugen.

This new race bred Civic will be joining the WTCC from this season with the starting rounds being held in Japan, China and Macau. Honda has also confirmed that they will be entering a two-car team in the next year’s championship.
