By Team Overdrive
Aspiring race drivers in India will get to experience Toyota’s motor racing cars for the first time. Earlier, Toyota unveiled their Etios and Liva racing concept cars at the Auto Expo 2012, and now will have a road show featuring the Etios race sedan on January 28, 2012 in Chandigarh.
Registrations for the Etios Motor Racing (EMR) have already begun and are open for drivers aged between 15 to 24 years with basic go-karting experience. Those who still haven’t applied can do so at www.toyotaetiosmotorracing.in. The online application will close on February 15, 2012. Selected applicants will be going through a go-kart selection round and simulator evaluations. Apart from this, the training process will also include lectures by professional instructors, drivers and local racing experts.
The EMR series, which is a one-make championship, will be held in the second half of 2013, with the Etios petrol being the car of choice in the first season. Toyota Racing Development (TRD) will supply racing parts for these FIA certified cars and will partner and work with Red Rooster Racing to better understand the needs of the sport and popularize it.
